WHAT IS COLLAGEN?

Collagen is a protein found in the skin, muscles, bones, connective tissue, blood vessels and digestive system. It is the most abundant protein in the human body, making up 25% of the total proteins. It is also the most plentiful substance in the body after water. Collagen benefits for skin include optimal elasticity and tone, as well as replacement of dead skin cells. Collagens in the human body are strong and flexible, consisting of 19 amino acids with high levels of glycine, proline and hydroxyproline. Our bodies contain 20 types of collagen;80-90% of them are categorised as Type1,2 and 3. The different types have different structures and functions.
